MVE + Consarctic Cryobank
Cryobank Consarctic + MVE is formed on the basis of classic cryostorages from MVE Biological Solutions (USA) and software cryo-freezers from Consarctic GmbH (Germany). MVE produces a wide range of cryostorages for storing any formats of biosamples (cryopacks, cryovials, cryostraws, etc.).
Currently, the method of storing frozen biosamples in liquid nitrogen (-196 o C) is considered outdated and unsafe due to possible cross-contamination, difficulties in handling racks in liquid nitrogen, and a gradual increase in icing inside the cryostorage.
MVE offers solutions without these shortcomings:
- storage in liquid nitrogen vapor at a temperature below minus 150°C, at which liquid nitrogen occupies a small column 20-25 cm high at the bottom of the cryostorage, and the storage system is located above the liquid column in liquid nitrogen vapor;
- storage in the dry gas phase (DryStorage) at a temperature below minus 180°C, in which the storage area of biosamples is separated from the vertical cavity with liquid nitrogen along the entire height of the cryostorage by a thin metal barrier. This makes it possible to maintain a temperature close to the temperature of liquid nitrogen over the entire height of the cryo-storage with a minimum gradient, while the biosamples are in the dry gas phase.
Such a cryobank may include a state-of-the-art cryogenic infrastructure, a control system for automatic fueling, gas analysis and ventilation, as well as a database with the history of biosamples.
