Cryotec celebrates 30th anniversary: from scientific research to leader in cryogenic technologies.

 

  Moscow, May 2026 — Russian company Kriotek, one of the world's leading players in the cryogenic equipment market, celebrates its 30th anniversary. Founded in May 1996 by two researchers from the Institute of General Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences specializing in low-temperature physics, the company has evolved from a small research initiative into a recognized expert in low-temperature technologies.

  Today, Kriotek is a team of highly qualified specialists, including cryogenic and refrigeration engineers, experts in low-temperature physics, design engineering, and equipment servicing. Over three decades of operation, the company has established itself as a reliable supplier and developer of solutions for medicine, industry, science, and agriculture.

  The first development was the KrioIney liquid nitrogen cryosurgery device — the first portable cryosurgical apparatus in modern Russia with adjustable liquid nitrogen delivery and interchangeable working tips. In 1998, it received a medal and diploma at the International Salon of Inventions in Geneva.
Since the early 2000s, Kriotek has been the exclusive distributor in Russia and the CIS countries of unique medical equipment for whole-body and local air cryotherapy manufactured by Zimmer MedizinSysteme GmbH (Germany): CrioSpace cryosaunas and Cryo family devices.

  Over the years, this area has expanded beyond ordinary distribution. Kriotek specialists handle design, installation, commissioning, user training, maintenance, and repair of systems — many of which have been operating in medical institutions for over twenty years.

  Another important area is cryopreservation and biobanking. The company participates in the creation of cryobanks of various scales: from individual storage systems to large-scale integrated projects. In such projects, Kriotek works with equipment from international manufacturers, including automatic ASKION cryobanks, Haier Biomedical cryobanks, MVE Biological Solutions cryostorage systems, Chart Ferox cryogenic vessels and tanks, and other manufacturers. In this area, the company increasingly acts not just as a supplier of individual components, but as an integrator of the entire system — from cryogenic infrastructure design and liquid nitrogen supply to monitoring, safety, and biological sample tracking systems — we create turnkey cryobanks.

  A distinct engineering competency of Kriotek is liquid nitrogen dosing systems for the food industry — AzotInject. In the early 2000s, only a small number of companies worldwide offered such solutions. Kriotek became one of the first developers of industrial liquid nitrogen dosers designed for precise dosing on high-speed packaging and filling lines.

  This area grew out of the company's accumulated expertise in handling cryogenic fluids and remains one of our specialized engineering developments today.

  In 2010, the company's quality management system was certified to ISO 9000 standard.

  Over 30 years, technologies, equipment, and the market itself have changed, but the company's approach has remained largely unchanged: not to limit itself to supplying a single device, but to understand how the equipment will be used, integrated into the customer's infrastructure, serviced, and operated throughout its entire lifecycle.

  "For us, reputation is capital that is built not by a single successful delivery, but by years of work. That is why it is especially important when clients return to us after five, ten, or fifteen years — for new equipment, upgrades, or service," says the company.

  Today, Kriotek continues to combine its own developments with collaboration with foreign manufacturers and to develop the areas in which it has accumulated engineering expertise over three decades — from medical cryotherapy and cryopreservation to complex liquid nitrogen handling systems.

  For the company, the 30th anniversary is not so much about taking stock, but rather an opportunity to look back at the journey traveled and chart the next directions for development, while preserving the same principle with which it all began in 1996: to combine a scientific approach with practical engineering challenges.
